USEFUL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHIMNEY EXPLOITATION

To replace an old heating boiler or to install a new one first of all you will have to assess temperature and draught in a chimney. Power of draught should suppress the resistance of a heating boiler, connector and other additionally attached devices. The decrease of temperature of combustion materials removed by a heating boiler leads to the poorer draught inside the chimney. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the required chimney draft even at the lower temperature of exhaust gas. In this case the chimney should have sufficient thermo isolation and optimal diameter and height.

Qualified specialists recommend mounting the flue liners into the brick-build and concrete chimneys for all kind of boilers heated by liquid, solid fuel and gas and have higher operation coefficient then 85%.

Condensation point
The condensation point of water steam that produces in combustion products, varies depending on fuel type. It depends on CO2 content in the exhaust gas. When different types of fuel (liquid, solid, gas) are used for heating, temperature of exhaust combustion products on the walls of a chimney should not be lower than the condensation point, i.e. 56°C. At lower temperature, humidity of combustion materials condenses on the walls of brick-build chimney and is absorbed into them, which leads to the soaking of a chimney and intensive destruction of its inner part. It is supposed that such a chimney could be completely ruined within 1-3 years.According to different types of fuel and boilers, the temperature of exhaust combustion materials should be maintained at 80-250°C.

Chimney protection against aggressive condensate
„Vilpra“ was the pioneering company in Lithuania working in the field of brick-build chimney protection from aggressive condensate. According to the professionals of the company, when reconstructing or replacing an old system by a new one, an existing chimney should be adjusted to a modern boiler. It could be done by installing relevant size of round, oval or flexible liner in the chimney, and if the chimney is absent or it‘s diameter is unsuitable to operate with chosen boiler, our company specialists will plan, manufacture and mount double wall chimneys. They are used to remove combustion materials and for the attached air channels both in the individual houses, public buildings and the industrial boiler plants.

Reccomendations to ensure chimney durability and fire resistance
In order to ensure that single wall liners or double wall chimneys will serve many years and won’t cause any troubles, "Vilpra" is offering “SADPAL” for burning out soot and other tar sediments in furnaces and chimney ducts to all the customers who are using solid fuel boilers or have fireplaces in their houses. If used on regular basis, “SADPAL” reduces coal consumption, decreases emission of CO2 and NO2 into the atmosphere, increases heating capacity and decreases the risk of soot igniting in the chimney ducts. At the same time, it reduces corrosion of steal construction elements in grate surfaces and boilers. It releases no odour during combustion, is non-flammable, in-explosive and non-toxic. Due to regular use of “SADPAL” chimney durability is secured and soot fire risk is decreased.
Vitiated chimneys are dangerous as a fire cause in building exploitation!
